Why Mindfulness Is The Ultimate Habit For Developing Success
If you want to succeed professionally, or even in your personal life, there are habits that you will need to develop. Let’s say that you want to become a better runner. If that is the case, you will develop more energy, as well as other powerful benefits such as staying well and thinking much more clearly.
I myself am an advocate for running, but for others, it may not be something that you want to do. As you develop different habits, it may involve going through a lot of pain and toil to get where you want to go.
There is always going to be some kind of impact on your life as you are developing habits for success. Habits are things that all of this develop over time such as learning to cross the road, yet it doesn’t revolve any type of effort. In fact, learning certain habits will not require a schedule change at all.
Become mindful of developing habits
When people talk about mindfulness, it is often represented as a condition where you are breathing in a certain manner, sitting still, and focusing on your breath. This can be a type of mindfulness, but it’s much more simple to do this a different way which can offer many more benefits.
You need to think of mindfulness as a way of shifting away from becoming what we think. You can tell that you are doing this by simply listening to your thoughts as you are going throughout the day. You need to learn to think objectively, and as you experience emotions, you need to be aware of how you are reacting to them, plus remember who you are with and what you were doing as you remember what was happening.
Making the shift can occur at any time. Most of the day, we are doing this, without even noticing it. For the most part, we are not sustaining this way of thinking, especially not for more than a few seconds, before we are drawn back into our thoughts and thinking again. This is why most people don’t think that this is beneficial, just as running just for a few minutes is not going to be helpful in regard to your health.
You need to intentionally make an effort to become mindful, and when you arrive, maintain that mindfulness, for as long as you can. There are so many benefits to doing this which will include:
Improving your emotional intelligence
Improving decision-making processes
Increasing your resilience to stress
It is possible that all of this sounds too simple. That’s why it’s important to go through mindfulness training so that you can begin to benefit from a fully functioning mind. Whatever you do, and also what you fail to do, results in habits that lead to how our mind functions, which is led to certain types of research by scientists trying to figure this out.
All of us are aware of really smart people that just have not been able to succeed. It’s not that they don’t have the ability to think properly. This person could be a very good decision-maker, but they may not have a lot of discipline, or perhaps they are lacking in the ability to develop healthy relationships or something similar to all three.
There are also individuals that you would regard as literally unintelligent, but they are very successful in their life. They have a functioning mind that is optimally developed, which helps them make much better decisions, primarily because they have increased their discipline levels which have helped them become better in life including sustained healthy relationships.
When you shift over to mindfulness, there is an obstacle that is removed: living your life through your thoughts. When you do this, you are literally a victim of your own mind and the thoughts that control you. For example, if you are primarily positive, then your life is likely going very well. However, if you have negative thoughts, it is likely that your life is experiencing problems.
When we are mindful, our mind is going to function at the most optimal levels so that we can objectively think about our life and the world around us. Instead of having reactive thoughts, which we do not control, we should learn to be mindful. This will give us the ability to act appropriately, and not react using our emotionally driven thoughts.
Generally speaking, people should go through some form of mindfulness training that can help them develop a sense of how to become successful, and this often goes far beyond just becoming disciplined. If you have heard of this before, it might have been presented to you as a way of feeling happier, or perhaps more compassionate, yet there is scientific evidence that practicing mindfulness can help us become more positive.
At any given moment, if we are practicing this correctly, even if we want to become successful, we can experience more happiness in our lives, and treat people a little bit better. After all, things like money, and material items, are simply meaningless if we do not have happiness in our lives.
